Volunteer Description and Expectations

HEART could not exist without our amazing volunteers!  Volunteers must be age 18 and older.  We expect our volunteers to be engaged, responsible, communicative, understanding, patient and respectful. We are all artists at HEART and volunteers cannot be afraid to jump in and participate wherever needed. Be creative even if you don’t think you can.  If at any time you feel uncomfortable or are unsure of what to do, please talk to one of the staff.  Below are some examples of our daily activities:

Daily Draw:

Pair up with HEARTists to follow the ‘Daily Draw’ prompt.  Once one person is finished, check to see if someone else would like a drawing partner.  Feel free to collaborate with anyone that might need a little extra morning encouragement.  This is a good time for casual conversation and getting to know each other while working creatively.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:

Trailblazing typically includes leaving the studio.  Volunteers could be responsible for their own small group of HEARTists if they are comfortable. Outings differ from day to day and can include driving to a park, passing out flyers in the community,  visiting an art gallery, exploring creative spaces, etc. This is a great time for casual conversation and getting to know one another. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, communicate and grow relationships.

Performing Arts (Theatre/Music/Dance):

Depending on what we’re working on, volunteers could be paired with HEARTists to help stay engaged and focused during rehearsal, learning a new dance or practicing lines. Volunteers can also help with tech, stage props, back stage, feeding lines, etc.

Visual Arts:

Typically, HEARTists work on a project that differs from person to person.  Volunteers are paired with a HEARTist or small group to support, help focus, and guide each project.

More Volunteer Opportunities:

Do you have a project that you’d like to bring to HEART?  Do you have a space we could explore?  Would you like to perform for or with us?  We would love to discuss your arts-based ideas and see how we can make them a reality!

Volunteers are also a major part of our productions.  Musicians, singers, actors and even those without stage experience!  We only ask that you have a desire to perform and a regular availability for rehearsals.

HEART is a happy and loving family of artists; a place to grow and learn together.  We love to have a good time and grow relationships through our art.  Come spend time with us and see how you can help!
